My James M. (Monroe) Smith was born in either SC or GA, most likely SC in
1810. This is according to Census records.

I later place him in Alabama in the 1840's, (census records again). Then he
is in the Lee/Itawamba Counties, Mississippi from 1850 to the 1880 census.
