I have about three James Monroe Smiths.
My great grandfather and his grandson by his second wife:
1-- James Monroe SMITH [I] (1851-1930) or of,Forsyth County,Georgia
sp-Mary Hannah HOPE (1847-1888) ,,Georgia
2-- Miles Ellison SMITH (1884-1973) Cuba,Forsyth County,Georgia
sp-Hannah Mae HOBBS (1887-1984) Rover,Yell County,Arkansas
sp-Mary DEMPSEY (1862-1921) ,,Georgia
2-- Monroe Carl SMITH (1891-1982) Ball Ground,Cherokee Co, GA
sp-Sarah Jane [Sadie] CARTWRIGHT ( -1925)
3-- James Monroe [Pratt] SMITH (1913-1996)
and this one I got from a "cousin" who is related to my Allens & Hudsons:

I'd really like to know about my James Monroe Smith's ancestry -- there is
supposed to be NA blood there, but I can not locate the fellow my
grandfather told us all about: Rockybottom Smith. We're assuming he would
be b. abt 1790 or so since James Monroe's father, Miles Hampton Smith, was
b. 1813 in SC and his mother, also a Smith, was b. Mary Louise 25 Mar
1825 GA of, apparently, a John & Mary Montgomery Smith. Both parents were
from SC.
