Hello,
I saw this post recently and wondered which Smith line you were referring to.
I don't have my genealogy software up on this computer yet but here's some
text on this line. My Smith Ancestors in Robeson County are Johnson J. Smith
born circa 1833 to Neill and Margaret Smith. Johnson J's family of origin
included a brother, William Scott Smith. Johnson J. Smith married Flora
Emaline Currie in 1868 and had the following children in Red Springs, Robeson
Co: Arlin, Eoline, Olga, and Clyde Benton Smith, b. 1874 in Red Springs.
This family relocated to Jefferson Co. AR in the late 1880's.

According to notes made by a genealogist working out of Robeson Co. in the
1960's, Johnson J.'s father, Neill Smith, is the child of Neill Smith and
Mary Little. Mary Little's parents were Archibald Little b. 1750 and
Margaret Johnson b. 1736.

Clyde Benton Smith's wife, my great-grandmother George (yes, George) Triplett
Smith, visited his Red Springs relatives while attending a wedding in 1919.
She mentions several Browns and a Sterling Smith. I'll have to dig these
letters out and see what else I may be missing.
