Subject: [SMITH] Confederate Major John Taylor Smith, Randolph County, AL
Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 18:39:33 -0800 (PST)
Major John Taylor Smith served with the 13th Alabama
Infantry under General Colquitt, and was killed at
Chancellorsville in May 1863.
I found a photo of him in "America's Civil War" and
I am aghast at the exact likeness he bore to my own
father, Willie Robert Smith, born 1930 in Tupelo, Lee
County, Mississippi!!!!!
We know nothing about my grandfather Smith's family.
I would like to hear from anyone related to the
Randolph County, Alabama Smith family. I assume John
was on the 1860 Randolph County census, probably also
1850. Was he related to Isaac Smith of Randolph
County? As I've stated, ol' Major John T. Smith could
pass as my father's IDENTICAL TWIN brother! I'm very
interested in this line of the Smith family. There
MUST be some kinship there somewhere!
Hope someone can help!
thanks
Will Smith
