Hi Listers,
In assembling my Smith/Woolery/Printz lines, I came across several Smiths
who I believe relate to my Martha A. SMITH PRINTZ. I'm hoping someone may
have info on these people.
On the 1880 census for Kelley Twp., Cooper Co., MO, theres a Noah SMITH,
born in VA, 71 years old, both of his parents were born in VA. Supposedly
my Martha, and her husband, Edward F. PRINTZ, had a son named Noah PRINTZ.
I haven't been able to confirm this because he was born after 1850, and
apparently dead before 1860. Noah's wife is either Mary or May. She's 60
years old, and born in VA.
On the 1860 census for Kelley Twp., Cooper Co., MO there's a John R. SMITH,
52 years old, born in New Hampshire. He has a 15 year old son, named John
Rockwell SMITH, who was born in KY. I know the name Rockwell carries down
into my WOOLERY line, which married into the PRINTZ line. What has me even
more curious is that John SMITH (who's a physician) and family are living
next door to Martha and her family. John's wife is Sarah. She's 42 years
old, and born in KY. Their other children are all born in KY: Sallie W.,
22, F; Amie E, 21, F; Ruth A, 19, F; Benjamin W., 7, M.
If my Martha is possibly the daughter of either of these gentlemen, their
wife is not of the right age to be her mother. I do know that Martha SMITH
was born about 1833 in VA. According to census records, both her parents
were born in VA. She was married in MD in 1851. She's in Kelley Twp.,
Cooper Co., MO in 1860, 1870 (widowed), and 1880. In 1900 she's in Beaver
Co., OK Territory (with her married daughter, Flora PRINTZ WOOLERY, and her
married son, Edward F. PRINTZ, and their families) . It's been said that
she died in Liberal, Seward Co., KS in 1901, but I have not been able to
confirm that.
Any clues to finding Martha A. Smith Printz's parents would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Regards,
Lori
