I am looking for info on the family of John Smith and Rebecca/Rebekka
Pennington, dau. of Abel Pennington and a Ms. Sweetin.
John and Rebecca were married about 1812 in Jasper County, Georgia.
I find a John W. Smith born about 1835 in Marion County, Alabama born in
Georgia with wife Lucitta born in Georgia, and children: Jonas, WILLIAM,
James A., Rebecca, John D., Julius W., and Irvin E. Smith on 1880 Marion
County census.
Hope someone has info on this family. I think William Smith b. circa 1865
could be my great-grandfather. Still trying to find info on him. Hope
there's some record left in Marion County that survived the 1889 fire that
destroyed the courthouse there.
