Hi Lauri, I wonder how far you go back with your German Smiths, who
settled in Albany. Do you know your origional immigrant ? My Schmidts (Smiths)
are from Germany, I have a connection as far back as abt 1760, in Germantown,
with Johannes Schmidt.. but am still searching for the origional
immigrant. Best wishes, Bruce Smith, Bayside, CA.

Bruce and Lauri,
I have a Frederick Smith / Schmidt born abt 1775 in either NC of German.
Family legend says Germany arriving USA about 1800. His daughter in the 1880
census reports both her father and mother were born in NC. He married unknown
about 1795. Children are Mary b. abt 1796, Elizabeth b. abt 1798, Peter b
1800 in NC, Christian b. 16 May 1802 in NC Frederick Jr. b. 1809 in Indiana,
Sarah born 20 Oct 1814 IN and Susannah born 1817 IN. Leaving NC he arrived in
Harrison Co. IN between 1802 and 1809 and left there arrived Randolph Co.
Arkansas before 1840 where he lived until his death in 1849. He married twice
more in Arkansas

Do you see any connection? I would appreciate any thought you have on this
family.

Thank you in advance,
