My Gggrandfathers named was John Baily Smith. He was born in England in
1823. He married Sarah Shaw in England in 1844. He died on 5/19/1807. They
had 7 children including Edmund H. Smith born 4/14/1851 and Etta M. Smith
born 10/1866. Edmund married Harriet Amelia Winton 4/29/1879. She was born
1/15/1854. They had twins on 2/4/1880. Harriet and one of the twins died in
childbirth. The surviving twin was Walter Winton Smith, my grandfather.
Edmund took his newborn son and returned to his mothers Fairfield CT farm
who apparently raised Walter. In the 1900 Bridgeport CT census Walter
appears living with his aunt Etta and her family. Her husband was named
Oliver Pratt born 2/1862 and two sons named Clifford O. Pratt b 3/1888 and
Leon F. Pratt b 5/1890.


I would appreciate information about any of these people or any suggestions
of how to proceed.
