This is excellent information, great.
I think I'll still go visit that librarian though just to see if I can
squeeze some info out. Tony's idea of seeing the administrator is also
excellent, and I'll do this as soon as they're back into work.
Interesting about Smethwick, as they were part of the Kings Norton union!!
On the A-Z map, you can see Hallam Hospital to the west of Hallam Street,
then just past this continuing on Hallam Street there is the Sandwell
District Hospital. From what I can make out from the map, the Maternity
Department may well have been the workhouse, which is next door to the
refectory. The Sandwell District Hospital is a newish high rise building a
little further west, but access road is still from Hallam Street.
I'll let everybody know when I've been on my interrogation mission :-)
