Wendy,
I found a lot of detail about a (major ) mining accident involving one of my
relatives in the Local history Section of the Local library. They had a
collection of official Mining Inspector's reports.
They were hard back books, complete with diagrams, details of accident etc.
You might try them.
There was also a book called PITS by John Threlkeld - with lots of
information about Barnsley mines. You might be lucky and find a similar
book.
