Hi everyone,
My interest relates to a Company originally called Austin and Pitt and
latterly as E A Austin & Co Ltd owned I think by the Dale Family, who were
located in Bilston until the mid 1980s and Wednesbury until a few years
later. In his younger years particularly pre WW2, my father (now 81) was a
Commercial Traveller taking hides of leather and sheets of Redferns Rubber
around the Black Country shoe repairers. He later managed the shop in Oxford
Street, Bilston, supplying sports and leather goods.

Does anyone know of any references to the Company in local publications or
perhaps has memories of the Company or cobblers who may have been supplied
by them. My grand father Charles Thom was also a Redferns rep prior to WW2
and travelled all over the West Midlands.

Any comments, ideas etc welcomed,

Cheers, Derek Thom (Wolverhampton)
