Hi Brian,
That's a matter largely of personal preference. Personally, I use "The
Master Genealogist", I find that it is a very "customisable Programme (note
not American spelling, or am I being politically incorrect). I have used it
for some years now. Why not try downloading some trial versions of
Programmes in order to find something that you can get along with. You could
always change to some other at a later stage and export/import your data via
Gedcom.
