Subject: [STAFFORDSHIRE] Brickwall - Robinson

May you all have a very merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New
Let's hope my brickwall tumbles this year.
May Florence Robinson b 1893. In the 1901 Census she was living, I think,
at 112 Livery St, Birmingham. When she married John Howard Goodes in 1909
she gave her address as in Smethwick, same place as John. Her father was
given as John Robinson, deceased.
Her family disowned her for marrying John. Family lore says it was because
John was a gipsy, but I'm pretty sure I've disproved that. She was 16 when
she married, but the certificate says she was 20. The family cut her off so
completely that I've not been able to definitely pin her onto a family. I'm
not sure where she was born - was it Lichfield, Staffs? I have a putative
family in Lichfield in the 1891 census: John and Mary Robinson with 5
children, and mostly the same children are with John and May at 112 Livery
Street in the 1901.
The names are relatively common, and I've already got one birth cert which
didn't turn out to be the right one, and I can't afford to waste any more
money on BCs.
So if anyone out there has John, Mary, Albert, Emily Kate and William in
their Robinson collection - could you also have had a May in there?
