I would like to mention that I received an email from Julie. She is
selling on eBay an item some of you may be interested in. It is an
1845 Isom Tolliver (1814 - 1893) to Phipps deed. Here is the
description; Item # 320456332305

Right now there is one bid for 9>99; right now the bid is a bit under
four days remaining. For anyone that is interested in getting this
(and does not have an eBay account, I will be happy to help get it for

Here is the description for the item :



Offered is a nice transfer deed from Isom TOLLIVER and his wife
Matilda of Owen Co IN. Previously Matthew PHIPPS ( say 1810-1841) had
agreed to buy this property, but is now deceased. The TOLLIVERS are
transferring the deed to the children of Matthew, namely

Tolliver PHIPPS , Jesse PHIPPS, Jefferson PHIPPS, John A. PHIPPS,
George W. PHIPPS and Doctor M. PHIPPS.

Isom and Matilda sign. Witnessed by David HARRIS and Aaron Mitchell.

Research suggests that the TOLLIVER and PHIPPS families were
intermarried in NC prior to this generation. Further I found the
following on Isom TOLLIVER.....

Greene Co Iowa on Isom TOLLIVER in part...

He came to the county April 16, 1854....Mr. Toliver was born on the
top of Big Bald Mountain, in Ashe County, North Carolina, July 29,
1814, the son of John and Anna Toliver. His grandfather, Jessie
Toliver, was a man of great force of character and ability, and served
seven years in the war of the Revolution, five years as a Captain of
the line. His father, John Toliver, died in North Carolina, and in
1834, the mother with her family moved to Owen County, Indiana. Isom
was the second of twelve children. He was married in Owen County in
1836 to Matilda Reynolds, a native of North Carolina, born in 1819.
Her mother was Sally Greene, a granddaughter of General Greene, the
friend of General Washington. In 1847 Mr. Toliver moved from Indiana
to Richland County, Illinois, and thence to Greene County, Iowa, in
1854. Mr. and Mrs. Toliver have had eleven children, nine sons and
two daughters. Four sons and one daughter died before coming to their
majority. The following are!
the names and order of birth of those who lived to maturity: John
H., Gillum S., Jacob M., James C., Doctor R., Tarry J. and Isom M.
Four of the brothers served their country during the war of the
Rebellion. John H. was a member of company E, Thirty-ninth Iowa
Infantry Volunteers, and Fife-Major of his regiment. He died at
Davenport, Iowa, soon after enlisting. Jacob M. was Second Lieutenant
of the same company. ....

While going through some old notes; I saw a link to a website I hadn't
visited in a long time. I have spent the past 8 or 9 days there
checking out the 530+ references for Stamper. When you have some free
time, you might want to check it for yourself.
http://contentdm.lib.byu.edu I have taken a lot of notes; and will be
adding a lot of the references to the website. I must say there were
just a handful of links that had references to 'stamper' as the
profession or item. I'm down to 50 links or less to check out ... :-
)) Here would be an excellent place to look for other lineages or a
number of topics ... it's a goldmine!

Does anyone have a Clay V Stamper in their data? A few weeks ago I
was on a site containing information about USAF Incident and Accident
Personnel List. There were ten Stampers listed (one, being a female,
Hazel). I inquired about all of them; but got a response referring to
only one of them. I had wanted to know if they had any information as
to their parents or relatives. Can anyone relate to this family ....
