Hi Listers,
I posted about Annie New a couple of months ago, and I’m still on her trail.
To recap, Annie New was born Pewsey? 1885 the result of an indiscretion by
Charles New (1854 Burbage) Annie died in 1962 in Reading. Charles New
married Isabella Middleton (my line) in 1889 in Marlborough, Isabella was
not Annie’s mother. We now think that Annie was Mary Ann New and her mother
was Elizabeth Ann New b 1864 Burbage. Meanwhile I find Charles New married a
Hester/Esther Marie Blackman (1853 Burbage)in 1875 in Islington, in the 1881
census they are living in London with a mixture of children Blackman & New
and Hester’s sister Fanny Blackman. But it doesn’t end there, Hester
Blackman had also married a Thomas Gill in 1871!. In 1891 Charles and
Isabella lived in Mildenhall with Annie. In 1901 Charles & Isabella were in
Axford, Annie lived in Bramshill, Hants (with Isabella’s sister) and Hester
lived in Midgley, Berks. As I said Annie died in 1962, Isabella was alive in
1924. Apparently from people who knew Annie she was the sweetest, kindest
person you could meet with 26 cats and she knew all their names, so we would
like to find out more about her. Is Charles New the same man in all these
ladies lives?. Does anyone recognize any of these names or have any info on
them.
