The fourth edition of _Genealogy in Ontario: Searching the Records_ by Brenda Dougall Merriman was officially launched on May 31st at the annual conference of the Ontario Genealogical Society (the publisher of the book: www.ogs.on.ca). For those familiar with older editions, this new one meets the 21st century world of genealogy.
The introductory section includes traditional research principles and our increasing use of Internet resources. The usual genealogical sources are treated from vital records to census to immigration, but much more is available---the intricacies of land records, civil and criminal justice (as well as wills and estate files), military fonds, religious institutions, Loyalists, family occupations, education, and so on. You will learn where to find the records, the context for their creation and how to use the finding aids. Each chapter includes both print and website references.
With Lorine's permission, I respectfully submit this notice because I think the book would answer many questions that appear on this list from time to time.
Thank you, Lorine!
Brenda
