Just an extra note regarding Ernest born 1877 in Wilmslow, Cheshire:

Thomas Yoxall born 1839 married Jane Bradley born 1842 and I originally had them as having 5 children - Hannah, Elizabeth, William, Fanny and Thomas.
In the 1881 Census, however, Jane Yoxall, with children Elizabeth, William, John (7) and Ernest (4), is listed as a "boarder" in the home of John Mottershead born 1820. I therefore concluded that John and Ernest were her sons. There is no mention of Thomas Yoxall in that Census.
Also, in the 1891 Census Jane Yoxall, with children Ernest (19) and Moses (7), is listed as a "lodger" in the home of Matthew Bailey born 1842. Again I concluded that Moses was also her son. There is no mention of Thomas Yoxall in that Census.

(In the 1871 Census Thomas Yoxall is listed as being with Jane, Hannah, Elizabeth, William and Fanny so he's still around then).

Thomas Yoxall born 1839 also married Emily (unknown) born c1840 somewhere in Cheshire, and I had them as having 4 children - Martha, John, Ernest and Clara. If I add John and Ernest to Jane's line, that leaves Martha born 1873 and Clara born 1880. One would therefore assume that Emily married Thomas in or about 1872 in order for her to give birth (in wedlock) to Martha in 1873. Emily would also have still been married to Thomas when she gave birth to Clara in 1880. BUT, then why is Jane Yoxall listed as having Moses born 1884 with her in the Bailey home on the night of the 1891 Census?

I had a little look at Peter's tree and noticed that there are a few Williams born 1811 and also a few Thomases born 1839, so I may have got them confused. Can anyone please definitely confirm who the children of Emily and Jane were, as I would very much appreciate that.

I'll move on to checking out the Mottersheads when I sort all of the above out.

Hi Folks,

A GR correspondent is the granddaughter of Lily Yoxall and her husband Harold Mottershead(new to me). This information led me to look at the Mottersheads in my tree - married to Ernest etc. These are not linked to Lily's line - maybe it will help to make that link.

I noticed that Ernest who married Lily Mottershead has a mother Jane Bradley but an unknown Yoxall as father . Jane apparently married an Unknown Yoxall and then Thomas. Is this correct, does anyone know who Jane Bradley's first husband was please?

I will let you know if she has any more information.
